FOR THOSE WHO THINK THEY MAY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH DRUGS
If you think you might be an addict, the best way to find out about NA is to come to a meeting and talk to some of our members. Meetings are gatherings of recovering addicts helping each other stay clean. Newcomers are always welcome and many members enjoy answering questions about their experience in NA.
You may also call our helpline at 1-833-436-6166. Our helpline service will connect you to one of our members. Many of us have found that speaking to a recovering addict can help us stay clean through those times when we feel like we are going to use.

FACILITIES THAT HOUSE AND/OR TREAT ADDICTS
Narcotics Anonymous in Maine strives to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with facilities that house addicts through their Hospitals and Institutions (H&I) Committees. These include but are not limited to jails, hospitals, treatment centers, detox facilities, and recovery houses. The main purpose of the H&I Committee is to introduce the Narcotics Anonymous program of recovery to addicts who do not have access to regular Narcotics Anonymous meetings. Maine is vast and sparsely populated in many locales, therefore, the availability of some H&I services can vary. We have found that as NA membership grows over time we are better able to fulfill commitments to local facilities. Although some H&I services may not be immediately available to your facility, knowing your needs and concerns helps us craft those services for the future.
The Maine Area Hospitals and Institutions committee currently offers:
- Printed meeting lists by mail
- Presentations to staff and faculty (subject to availability)
- Informational pamphlets
- Panel meetings for inmates (subject to availability)
- In-house meeting facilitators (subject to availability)
- Information on developing institutional meetings
- Literature donations for addicts (subject to availability)
If you would like more information or to request any of the above services please contact the Maine Area of Narcotics Anonymous Hospitals and Institutions Committee. For quickest response please use email.
